Fatty Liver Disease

Fatty liver, also known as hepatic steatosis, is a condition in which excess fat accumulates in the liver. It is a common condition, with estimates suggestion up to 25% of people in the United States have it. While it is often asymptomatic, it can lead to serious complications it left untreated.                                                                                                             
  There are two main types of fatty liver: nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and alcoholic fatty liver disease . NAFLD is the most common forms and  occurs in people who do not drink alcohol excessively . It is closely linked to obesity, insulin resistance, and high cholesterol.    Preventing fatty liver involves maintaining a healthy weight, excercising regularly, and eating a healthy diet low in sugar and unhealthy fats. It is also important to limit alcohol consumption.
